Koornfontein Siding, is a high-efficiency coal rail loading facility located near Komati,Mpumalanga. This strategically positioned siding plays a critical role in streamlining coalexports to Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) through a direct, cost-effective rail network. It features a rapid loadout system capable of loading between 100 and 104 jumbo wagons
with various grades of coal. Handling approximately 42,000 tons per month for multiple clients, including 17,000 tons for IPP alone. Koornfontein is designed for scale, speed, and reliability in bulk transport logistics.
With direct rail access, the siding significantly reduces trucking distances, cutting operational emissions, and contributing to more sustainable coal transport practices. By minimizing bottlenecks and improving turnaround times, Koornfontein Siding enhances logistical efficiency and supports the broader coal value chain across domestic and international
markets.
