Uitkyk is situated along the R555 road between Middelburg and Stofberg, Mpumalanga. Covering approximately 76 hectares, the site includes active mining, rehabilitation, and development zones. Operational since 2023, Uitkyk employs opencast mining techniques to
extract quality coal that contributes steadily to the local and regional energy markets. The colliery currently mines around 62,000 tons per month, supported by ongoing geological studies and prospecting that guide production and expansion efforts.
While reserve estimates are still being refined, the operation maintains a consistent output, demonstrating both effective site management and adaptable planning. Uitkyk’s focused approach balances efficient coal extraction with responsible land stewardship, ensuring progressive rehabilitation alongside mining activities. Its accessible location and reliable production make it an important contributor to the regional coal supply chain, supporting IPP’s broader portfolio and commitment to sustainable resource development.
