Opgoedenhoop Colliery
An open cast mining project, mainly mining B seam, C upper and C Lower seams. Coal Seam A will be mined in future.
Opgoedenhoop Colliery is located on the farm Op Goedehoop 205 IS, approximately 12 km east of Hendrina in Mpumalanga, with convenient access via a gravel road just 9 km out of town. Spanning an area of roughly 1,000 hectares, the site has been in operation since 2018 and is firmly established as a high-capacity opencast coal mining operation.
The resource is estimated at 10.3 million tons, with current production averaging 100,000 tons of coal per month.
The site is supported by robust infrastructure, including a Dense
Media Separation (DMS) wash plant capable of processing up to 135,000 tons per month. Opgoedenhoop’s scale and output position it as a key contributor to the regional coal market.
